There’s certainly no shortage of so-called Luxury Resorts in Virgin Islands, however how do you know if the ones you are perusing and possibly selecting from are actually of the “Luxury” caliber of just a slick set of words trying to entice you into booking?
Of course one tried and true method is to visit the plethora of review and feedback website like TripAdvisor, Yelp, Google Reviews, etc. and briefly read through the comments made by previous guests of the resort. It sure doesn’t take very long or too much a=of an in-depth analysis to ascertain whether a presumed “Luxury Resort” is in fact backing up it moniker of a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Keep in mind however one man’s “Luxury Resort may be another man’s So-So Hostel. So be sure to have some of your own criteria in mind that you want in your place to stay. These basic ‘your-choice-indicators’ may include: pool and what type of pool, hot tub: in room only or would a Jacuzzi in the common area be suitable. Is it vital that there be several selections of restaurants on property or is it perfectly acceptable to have several dining selections nearby? How about the room itself? Do you require that it be quite spacious or perhaps because you’ll spend most of your vacation time out and about – at the pool, on the beach, etc. maybe the room itself doesn’t matter that much. How about the bedding linens, the towel, etc. I prefer and have to admit I do judge a hotel or villa based upon the fluffiness and smell of the bathroom towels. It’s important to me, it may not be for you. Bottom line is you have to ascertain for yourself what’s important to you.
Finally, a good idea is also to actually speak with the proprietor / innkeeper of the place(s) you are considering. This conversation may prove to be a big help when determining if you want to stay there.
